Grow Your Substack and Get Clients Through Genuine Relationships
A 3-month coaching program for creators who want more people reading, engaging with, recommending, and buying from them.

Hey, I'm Rob
You can write good posts, publish Notes every day, leave thoughtful comments, and genuinely try to be part of the Substack community...
And somehow, your engagement still feels quiet, your audience grows slowly, and selling anything feels much harder than it should.
Why? Because not enough of the right people know you, trust you, or feel connected to you yet.
On any platform, people are more likely to read, engage with, and buy from someone they already know and trust. Usually, that familiarity builds slowly as they come across your work again and again.
But on Substack, you can speed up that process by building genuine relationships while you publish.
Make Friends Get Clients helps you intentionally build those relationships instead of waiting for the right people to eventually discover you.
As people get to know you, they become more likely to read your posts, join the conversation, recommend your publication, collaborate with you, and eventually buy from you or send clients your way.
I spent years writing, posting, and trying to grow online before I understood that good content was only part of the equation.
My work started spreading much faster once I stopped treating relationships as something that happened by accident and started intentionally becoming someone other creators enjoyed knowing, supporting, and recommending.
I used that approach to build a 34,000-person audience, become friends with major creators, and grow a six-figure coaching business on X.
Then I started over on Substack without relying on my old audience. I used the same principles to build new relationships, grow my publication, and sell coaching here.
Now I teach the process I use inside Make Friends Get Clients.
1. Find people worth connecting with
Create a simple system for continually meeting readers, peers, prospects, and creators who are a good potential fit.
2. Start genuine conversations
Learn how to engage with their work, leave comments they enjoy, and create interactions that feel natural and warm.
3. Grow the relationships that develop
Focus on the people who engage back and turn those early interactions into readers, collaborators, referrals, and clients.
Here's How It Works
What You'll Get
Make Friends Get Clients is a three-month coaching program that helps you consistently meet new people, start better interactions, and grow the relationships that help your work spread.
You’ll get:
A step-by-step system for finding and connecting with new people
A personalized strategy for deciding who is worth reaching out to
Regular accountability check-ins so you consistently do the work
Direct DM access to me for feedback, strategy, and coaching
Help improving your comments, DMs, content, positioning, bio, or offer when those things get in the way
Calls whenever we need to work through something together
A relationship spreadsheet that keeps your activity and follow-ups organized
This is not a course you work through alone.
I’ll be in your corner throughout the process, helping you adjust the strategy based on the people you meet, the responses you get, and what is actually helping your publication grow.
What This Can Help You Build
The goal is not to collect a bunch of online acquaintances.
It’s to build a Substack where more of the right people:
Discover your work
Recognize your name
Read your posts consistently
Engage with your Notes and comments
Recommend your publication
Invite you into collaborations
Become paid subscribers, buyers, referral sources, or clients
Instead of starting from zero every time you publish or sell something, you’ll have real people around your work helping it travel.
Is This Right For You?
This program is for Substack creators who have something valuable people would genuinely want to read, follow, recommend, support, or buy.
You might be a coach who wants more clients, a writer growing a paid publication, a creator with an offer, or an expert building an audience before deciding exactly how to monetize it.
You do not need a perfectly validated offer, a huge audience, or flawless positioning.
But you should have a meaningful direction for your Substack, believe the right people would value your work, and be willing to consistently engage without treating every interaction like a sales tactic.
Investment
Make Friends Get Clients is $2,000 for three months of coaching.
If you want to grow your Substack and get customers or clients through genuine relationships, here's what I recommend:

We’ll talk about your situation and figure out whether Make Friends Get Clients makes sense for you.
If it's a fit, we'll get you started immediately so you can start building relationships to grow your Substack or business.
Frequently Asked Questions
What if I don’t have an offer yet?
You can still be a good fit.
You may be growing a paid publication, building an audience before creating an offer, or publishing work people value without thinking of yourself as someone who “helps people.”
The same relationship strategy still applies. The people who know you, trust you, and enjoy interacting with you are more likely to read your work, recommend your publication, collaborate with you, and become paid subscribers later.
You should still have a clear enough direction that we can identify who is likely to care about your work. The program can help more of those people discover and trust you, but it cannot replace having something worth reading.
Do relationships replace good content?
No.
You still need work people find useful, interesting, entertaining, or worth following.
Relationships help that work reach the right people sooner. They give people a reason to recognize your name, visit your publication, read what you write, join the conversation, and share it with someone else.
Good content matters. Relationships help good content work much sooner.
I'm still not sure if Make Friends Get Clients is right for me. What should I do?
DM me (Rob) "MFGC" on Substack and I'll help you determine whether this is right for you at the moment. I won't try to push you into the program. It'll just be a conversation to help you figure out what's best for you.
